No surprise to us that Haiti's government is a bit shakey right now. When we chose to adopt from Haiti we knew that there would be risks involved. Very recently the Prime Minister of Haiti (in office for only 4 months) has resigned from his position. I don't know all the details... But what I do understand is that the children of Haiti, the tens of thousands, and closer to FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND children, that are orphaned... Will probably have to wait longer to be united with their forever families. I know that our family will probably have quite a wait because we need to get a presidential dispensation. From what I understand, this means that the President of Haiti will need to approve our case (and other families like ours) because we have already have children in our home. We know the wait will be worth it... But oh how we want things to speed up for all those precious children of Haiti!!
My heart BREAKS for the children of Haiti. I can not imagine any child waking up without a smile to greet them, and kisses all over their cheeks. I cant imagine children wandering the streets of "tent cities" with nowhere to go, no one to call them inside before dark. I can't imagine the heartache of starving mothers, unable to breast feed their infants, unable to buy formula, and so decide to feed their newborns sugar water. I can't imagine the fathers that barely make $300 per year (USD) and therefore make the most loving, courageous act they know: to leave their children at the gates of an orphanage. I just cannot imagine any of this, and yet it's so very real.
Please join me in prayer for the people and children of Haiti. I know that my God knows each of His children by name. He knows their hearts, their sufferings, the number of hairs on their head!
Each prayer lifted to God is HEARD. Each prayer stirs His heart. Please. pray. for. Haiti.
